Forest management philosophy

Forest management
Forest management or more importantly sustainable forest management can best be described as the use  and care of forests to maintain environmentally appropriate, social beneficial and economically viable values and benefits over time. It is based on scientific research to promote long term health and to conserve biodiversity.
When properly implemented values such as wildlife habitat, soils, species at risk as well as vernal pools, intermittent streams and waterways will be considered in the development of the plan. It is a process of planned treatments designed to modify, improve, utilize and regulate the forest .
Management objectives are determined by the current forest condition, potential of forest, species present and landowners' objectives. Objectives can be directed towards wildlife habitat, environmental protection and timber production. Various treatments can be developed to achieve desired goals.
