Red oak
Pointed lobes, turn red almost purple if fall after hard maple. Thick leaf lasting on the forest floor longer than others.
White oak
Similar to white oak but with rounded lobes
Bur oak
Pointed lobes, leaf is wider near the tip compared to the base

Petiole is triangular in shape that gives this leaf a trembling appearance in the slightest of winds

An elliptical leaf with a sawtooth margin. Buds diverge from twig at a 45 degree angle.
